STRAFFORD SELF DRIVE - BRIGHTON, EA

Don't use them. I hired a van in line on Friday and then Monday morning I discovered , only because I called them, that they were not going to provide one with a tail lift which was the whole point of hiring the van. When I challenged it the lady was not even really bothered saying that we were going to get a van just not a one with a tail lift. What's the point of specifying a van type if yr not going to get it. It is silly to substitute a van with a tail lift for one without a tail lift without checking with the customer first.

Thought I should warn people off this company if they're doing research into hiring a vehicle. My sports team hired a minibus from them and 1.5 hours into the journey discovered a flat tyre - not a problem in itself but there was no spare! A new tyre was paid for by a member of the club but Strafford refused to accept blame and never refunded the money. Another incident was booking a vehicle online (and paying) that clearly stated the minimum age limit was 22. After the booking was made they rang me and said this was a mistake but it took me 2 months and intervention from my credit card company to get the money back! They knew the problem on the day I'd booked it! Same story as other reviewers, stopped replying to emails, rude telephone assistant etc. Seriously don't risk it, they will scam you out of hundreds!

Hired a very big Transit van to move some furniture up to Manchester, it was a 66 plate 2016 virtual new van and was 30% cheaper than all the other companies I called. Very central location (for me anyway) near Preston Circus and friendly staff. All good.

A truly dreadful experience today at Strafford. Because I didn't have a credit card a £750 deposit was demanded from me even though I offered to use my own car insurance instead of theirs. I had already booked online and wasn't aware of this small print until after paying but of course no refund was offered. Very disappointed.

SO glad I did not read the earlier bad reviews which appear to have been written by the same group of people with a personal grudge, this is the problem with reviews they are sometimes inaccurate and misleading as this really is a great company. They gave me a fab vehicle. The staff were friendly AND really low prices. AND a very central location... whats not to like guys ??
