We discovered this hidden gem of a country pub when we were out for a walk between Billinge and Carr Mill Dam. There were some really well kept cask ales, good wines, an open fire, friendly staff and locals, a beer garden overlooking open fields, and the most civilized smoking shelter we've ever come across. The interior had been tastefully restored, and there were all kinds of interesting artifacts, including rare rugby league memorabilia. It had just won the CAMRA pub of the year 2010 award for the area. We liked it so much, I offered to do them a website (for free) - it's at http://www.masonsarmsbillinge.co.uk - they're lovely people. Well worth a visit - we'll be back.?
